AET. Thistle had most of the play by far and went ahead when ex-JAG Forrest scored an OG (65). Ample chances to put the tie safe were squandered and proved costly. A disputed penalty (foul, 86) made it 1-1 then a poor pass back by Robertson was miscued by Tuffey straight to the scorer in the dying seconds of ET.

Second Division Ayr Utd disposed of First Divison Partick Thistle to progress through to the Challenge Cup semi-finals after extra-time. Ian McCall's men looked to have the tie wrapped up thanks to an own goal from Ayr defender Eddie Forrest just after the hour mark. But with four minutes remaining, the Honest Men were level through an Alex Williams penalty. Williams was the hero again in the 120th minute to send Ayr through.
