There were few chances created in this game. Much fancied St Johnstone seldom threatened but just as a draw was beginning to look likely they scored twice (a header, 72 and from 25 yards,74). Keeper Main hit a clearance off Buchanan (86) then Thistle were denied a penalty in the hectic final minutes.

Rocco Quinn's superb strike rounded off a fine St Johnstone win over Partick Thistle at McDiarmid Park. The on-loan Celtic man latched on to a pass from David Weatherston to bend the ball home from fully 35 yards out. The Saints had gone ahead three minutes earlier through Kenny Deuchar's header from a Paul Sheerin corner. Partick staged a late rally and pulled one back through a freak Liam Buchanan goal, and they were denied what looked like a penalty in the dying moments.
