Thistle just scraped past Second Division Airdrie. Harkins scored from 20 yards (14) and everything looked comfortable but the second half was different however and Airdrie equalised just after the hour mark with a free header and looked the more likely but Murray scored from a Strachan cross (89) to avoid extra time.

A late strike from Stephen Murray ensured Partick Thistle's progress in the CIS Insurance Cup. The Jags dominated the first half and led thanks to a stunning shot from defender Gary Harkins. However, the visitors forced their way back into the game and a powerful header from Steven McKenna restored parity on the hour. With just two minutes remaining, Murray ran on to a clever step over from Mark Roberts and smashed the ball home.
