Pierre Maxim (retired early, injured) and one unknown played for Thistle as trialists. Trialist 18 was a first timer. No clues as to an identity. Simon Storey and Mark Innes played as trialists in the next game on the 26th, so slim chance it's one of those two (although PTFC Rovers report suggests that theory is unlikely). Came on for the injured James Gibson midway through the second half.

A slick Leicester City side were too good for Thistle who at least tried to play attacking football. Roberts and Rowson went close before Leicester took the lead (volley, 54). Buchanan almost equalised but Tuffey fumbled a harmless shot on the break for a tap-in (67) and that was that.

Leicester City made it five wins from five for their pre-season campaign with a well earned 2-0 victory over Scottish First Division side Partick Thistle on Tuesday night. Youngsters Eric Odhiambo and James Wesolowski grabbed the goals for the Foxes on the night in front of a 1,403 strong crowd at the Firhill Stadium. Manager Martin Allen named three of his new signings in the starting line up - Stephen Clemence, James Chambers and Bulgarian international Radostin Kishishev. Matty Fryatt, who had grabbed a goal in City's 3-0 victory over Notts County last weekend, began the game in attack alongside Mark de Vries.

City's first chance of the game came in the 13th minute of the contest. Clemence threaded a delightful ball into the path of de Vries, but the big striker saw his shot well blocked by Jags defender Scott Boyd. The Foxes came close again five minutes later. Richard Stearman, who had started the game in a right-wing position, swung in a corner from the right, but Clemence's acrobatic volley from the edge of the 18-yard box fell just over the bar. Clemence was in the thick of the action again on 23 minutes. The former Birmingham midfielder picked up a loose clearance in the middle of the park and fed a fine ball through to Alan Sheehan, but the Irishman saw his shot from distance comfortably saved by Jonny Tuffey in the Jags goal. Thistle had their first clear chance on goal a minute later. Stevie Murray swung in a corner from the right, but striker Liam Buchanan was unable to get a clean strike on the ball at the far post and Paul Henderson was able to gather easily. A quick move down the right almost produced an opportunity for the home side in the 28th minute, but Stearman was on hand to produce an excellent block and thus end any danger. Jags striker Buchanan broke through the City backline with five minutes of the half remaining, but Stearman was on his toes again and made up ground to recover and make another good block. Manager Allen made three changes on at half time - James Wesolowski, Odhiambo and Shaun Newton replacing Radostin Kishishev and Bruno N'Gotty. Stearman moved to the centre-back position, allowing Newton to take up the right wing spot.

City broke the deadlock in the 55th minute. Fryatt found substitute Odmiambo 25 yards from goal with an inch perfect past, and the Leicester youngster made no mistake - blasting a well drilled shot past Tuffey. The Jags almost hit straight back moments later, but Buchanan saw his powerful shot well blocked by captain for the night Gareth McAuley. Gary Hawkins tried his luck from range for the home side on the hour mark - but Henderson was there to make the save. A quick break almost created Leicester's second goal on 62 minutes, but Shaun Newton's shot on the angle landed wide following good work from Odhiambo and Fryatt. Allen was forced to make his fourth change on 65 minutes - Sergio Hellings replacing the injured Alan Sheehan. The Foxes made it 2-0 on 67 minutes. Substitute Hellings saw a shot saved by Tuffey, but the Partick goalkeeper was unable to hold the ball and it eventually broke to Wesolowski who fired home a well placed shot from 12 yards. Allen made his fifth and final change with four minutes of the game remaining - Iain Hume replacing Fryatt. The Foxes now face another three days of intensive pre-season training before they face Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Saturday (3pm).
