Gary Harkins, David Rowson, Pierre Maxim and 3 unknowns played as trialists. Trialist 4 is thought to be the same French midfielder who played at #8 versus Stenhousemuir. We've guessed he's the one who was replaced by Liam Buchanan. Trialist 5 (black, French, first timer) was a powerful stopper who, we think, played the full 90. Trialist 16 is most likely the (black) scoring French #9 from the Stenhousemuir game. Came on for Mark Roberts later in the second half.

970 spectators saw a much improved Thistle with 5 trialists in the starting line-up and, looking for contracts, they contributed to the performance. Hinchliffe had some early saves then Roberts went close twice before half-time. He scored (65) as did Buchanan (69), both aided by mistakes by ex-JAG Milne.

Just back in from Maryhill this minute. I would say it wasn't a bad game but in actual fact, it was pretty stale for long periods. First half was pretty much devoid of any real action, particularly in the final thirds of the pitch at both ends. Falkirk tried to play possession throughout and I suppose they did retain a lot of the ball but it was pretty dreadful to watch at times, really cautious and flat, they seemed to forget that the objective of the game is to score more goals than your opponent! 0% Penetration. They stifled Thistle for 45 minutes but at the same time did themselves any favours. Second half was slightly more open Introduction of subs perhaps livened things up. Mark Roberts got Thistle's first and this was followed by a nice lobbed goal by Buchanan. Stevie Murray was the best player on the pitch. Thistle no.8 Striker (subbed) tall chap, dark skinned, was excellent I thought, link up play was superb at times and even looks good running at players - a handful. All of thistles trialists in fact looked pretty competent and Liam Buchanan looks like quite a good player, very nippy and tenacious won't give strikers a minutes peace, took his goal well.
