Airdrie, desperately trying to fight relegation, started well and had Thistle under pressure early on. They took the lead with a header, their first serious attack, (8) but Smith equalised with a rare shot from the edge of the box (13). Apart from a spell around the hour mark, it was all Thistle but shooting was poor, luck was out.

Airdrie United remain in danger of automatic relegation from the First Division after failing to find a win. The Diamonds took the lead after eight minutes when Gary Twigg headed home from a Steven McDougall cross. The visitors equalised with their first attack when Barry Smith struck a powerful curling shot from 20 yards which gave Stephen Robertson no chance. Airdrie pressed and Graeme Holmes went close before Ian Harty's effort was ruled out for offside.
