Only Morrow and Strachan passed muster as Thistle slumped again. Morrow hit the bar then set up Ferguson who made a mess of a through pass. Having been totally absent in attack bottom club Airdrie stabbed home a cross (36). Archibald was red-carded (89) for a retaliatory head butt. 36 fouls, 4 booked.

Airdrie grabbed a First Division lifeline with a narrow win at Firhill, which saw Partick finish with 10 men. The visitors took the lead in the 38th minute when Kevin McDonald put Graeme Holmes through on the left, he cut the ball across goal and Ian Harty scored. Four minutes after the restart Thistle should have been level but goalkeeper Robertson saved Derek Young's header. Thistle's Alan Archibald was sent off a minute before the end for clashing with Airdrie's McDonald.
