3 days later and in complete contrast, Thistle slumped to defeat by bottom of the table Alloa. Poor defending led to the opener (8). Hodge hit the bar and Gibson blasted over before Alloa scored again (30). An angled drive by McConalogue (37) gave Thistle some hope but, if anything, they were even worse in the second half.

Alloa were in excellent form at Recreation Park to edge out Partick Thistle in a fast-paced contest. The bottom side made a great start when Ross Hamilton shot them ahead on eight minutes with a well placed effort. And the Wasps struck again after 30 minutes - Graeme Brown finding the corner with a neat strike. Stephen McConalogue gave the visitors a lift after 37 minutes with a lovely goal from 10 yards but Thistle could not break Alloa down after the break.
