AET. Won 4-2 on pens. After being on the back foot, Thistle went ahead when Roberts scored (close in, 15) but ICT equalised (tapped in cut-back, 24). Arthur had some fine saves and there were chances at both ends. It could have gone either way in ET but it went to pens and Snowdon, the hero of the night, got the winner.

Goalkeeper Kenny Arthur was the Partick Thistle hero as they dumped Inverness out of the Scottish Cup after a penalty shoot-out at Firhill. Dennis Wyness and Ross Tokely had their efforts saved, while the Second Division side converted four times. Mark Roberts had slammed the Jags in front from a corner but the SPL side hit back with a Wyness tap in. There were few thrills after half-time but the underdogs held their nerve to set up a quarter-final tie at Hearts. In what has been an incredible year for upsets, there are just three top flight sides left in the last eight of the competition.

Partick Thistle took a surprise lead with their first attack of the game after 15 minutes. Adam Strachan head-flicked a Stephen McConalogue corner on to the back post where Roberts was waiting to fire the ball into the roof of the net from two yards. The visitors made all of the early running and could have had the game wrapped up before falling behind. Arthur was at full-stretch to get his fingertips to a shot from Barry Wilson. And Wyness curled in a shot from 16 yards which Arthur again did well to push around the post. From the resultant corner Wyness found himself alone at the back post but made a horrible mess of his strike. Jags defender Marc Smyth, under pressure from Craig Dargo, then headed a back-pass over the on-rushing Arthur but recovered to clear before the ball crossed the line. But, nine minutes after Roberts scored, Inverness finally breached the home defence. Black ran on to a Wilson pass and squeezed the ball across goal from the bye-line for Wyness to stroke in from a yard out.

What had been an entertaining game became bogged down after the break as Inverness struggled to maintain their early sharpness. Paul Ritchie tried a shot from 20 yards which Inverness 'keeper Mark Brown gathered with ease, while Wyness hit the side-netting at the other end. In the final five minutes of regulation time Arthur got down smartly to save a Dargo shot and Wyness scooped an awkward half-volley over the crossbar.

There was a scare for the home side in extra-time when Arthur failed to gather a Wilson cross but Dargo could not force the loose ball past two lunging defenders in the six-yard box. In the final minute of the match Roberts squeezed a header on target but it lacked the power to seriously trouble Brown. While Arthur saved from Wyness and Tokely, Roberts, Ricky Gillies, Sean Kilgannon and Will Snowdon all tucked away their spot-kicks to clinch a money-spinning tie at Tynecastle.
