“McConalogue strike lightens the gloom” (GH). An uninspiring match between “two sides mired in mediocrity” and it was a lob from 25 yards by McConalogue as the Rovers' defence got into a tangle that separated the teams (34). Only Gibson and new signing Ritchie shone in the gloom.

Stephen McConalogue grabbed the only goal as Partick maintained their promotion push with a deserved win over Raith at Firhill. Man-of-the-match McConalogue's stunning strike came after 34 minutes. He pounced on the loose ball as it dropped from Iain Davidson's mis-headed clearance and beat goalkeeper Ally Brown with a fine 35-yard shot. Jags keeper Kenny Arthur pulled off a wonder save in the 72nd minute to keep out Todd Lumsden's header.
