9th v 4th was far too close for comfort. Thistle went ahead when Roberts scored from the spot (foul, 26). He scored again (deflected shot, 38) then Dorrans scored from 25 yards just on half-time. Goals on 53 and 72 started a panic and Gibson was red carded (76) but Thistle held out, helped by Forfar having a man sent off (87).

Forfar almost completed a fine comeback after Thistle had raced into a three-goal lead. Mark Roberts opened the scoring with a 26th-minute penalty after he was fouled by Alan Rattray. Roberts added his second goal with a deflected strike 12 minutes later, before Graeme Dorrans (44) looked to have wrapped it up with a curling shot. Martin Cameron pulled a goal back from close range in the 53rd minute before Steve Bonar headed in a second. Forfar's Eddie Forrest and Partick's James Gibson were sent off in a heated last 15 minutes.
