Thistle outplayed 2nd top Morton and Stewart in goal was seldom busy. Santala took the ball round the keeper and scored from a tight angle (29) then McCulloch scored with a trademark thunderbolt free-kick just on half-time. Morton had most of the play in the second half but the defence stood up well for a fine win.

Partick eased to a deserved win over Morton to keep themselves in contention at the top of Scottish Division Two. They took the lead in the 29th minute when the excellent Graham Dorrans fed Jukka Santala, who beat keeper David McGurn with a fierce strike. Thistle increased their lead on the stroke of half-time when Scott McCulloch lashed home a free-kick. Morton had a couple of chances to set up a nailbiting finale as Peter Weatherson sliced just wide of goal.
