Fulton ran the show from midfield in this comfortable win. Mitchell missed a penalty (10) but Gibson (B) put Thistle ahead with a flick-on at a corner (15) then Escalas scored (on his competitive debut) from close in just on half-time. His header (61) made it 3-0. Chances to run up a big score were all wasted.

Partick Thistle secured their place in the Bell's Cup second round with a comfortable win over Brechin. Thistle started well and could even afford a Jamie Mitchell missed penalty, before Billy Gibson converted a left wing corner on 15 minutes. Spanish striker Juan Ramón Escalas added a second for the home side on the stroke of half time. Escalas completed the scoring with a well-taken header in the 61st minute to seal Thistle's victory.
