There's some doubt over Thistle's second, a shot by Jamie Mitchell which took a deflection on the way to the net. SB say it was a Colin Murdock og. DR says Mitchell's 16-yard shot was deflected by Nicol who was “hardly at fault”. The TG says that Mitchell fired Thistle ahead with a shot that spun off Nicol. It's very hard to decide on the video, but if there was a deflection it was slight indeed and it looks like the ball was net-bound in any case. The Jamie Mitchell goal looks sound to us.

Hibs scored (33) after a poor defensive header but a fine finish from Grady (38) put Thistle level. Fleming went close with a free-kick. Mitchell scored the winner (deflected shot, 60) when he pounced on a loose ball. Thistle held on for their first away win since the last day of the previous season (against Hibs).

James Grady and Jamie Mitchell grabbed the goals as Partick Thistle came from behind to record their first league win away from home this season. Hibernian suffered an early blow when Kevin Thomson was stretchered off. But Colin Murdock headed the home side into the lead, only for Grady to drive home the equaliser before the break. Thistle, destined for relegation, took control against managerless Hibs and Mitchell shot home a deserved winner that took a deflection off Murdock. Stephen Dobbie came into the Hibs starting line-up, with top scorer Derek Riordan having picked up an ankle injury that rules him out until next season. Adam Strachan, the 17-year-old who made his first start for Thistle on Saturday, was rested in favour of Andy Gibson.

The home side registered the first effort on goal after only four minutes, but Dobbie shot high over the bar from the edge of the box. Hibs were dealt a blow in the in the 10th minute, when midfielder Thomson was stretchered off after a seemingly innocuous foul by Jags midfielder Willie Howie. Alen Orman came on as substitute. The deadlock was eventually broken in the 32nd minute. A Tom McManus corner was cleared back to the forward, whose cross found Murdock unmarked and the defender stooped to head past Kenny Arthur from close range. The visitors levelled five minutes later after midfielder Jean Yves Anis found Grady with a cutback only eight yards out and the little striker turned and slotted the ball into the corner.

Thistle were looking sharp and inventive and there was no surprise when the Glasgow side took the lead in the 59th minute. Midfielder Billy Gibson drove into the Hibs box and, although his run was stopped by sheer numbers, the ball broke to Jamie Mitchell. And the diminutive striker drove a right-footed shot from 16 yards past goalkeeper Daniel Andersson - with the aid of a deflection off the unfortunate Murdock. Hibs still came close to equalising, Kevin Nicol's fine shot from the edge of the box almost sneaking past Arthur. And the Thistle goalkeeper also did well to turn away a powerful Murdock header.
