“Luckless Thistle” (GH). Grady intercepted a free-kick and ran in on goal only for the ref to deem the kick hadn't been taken. The winner was a free-kick deflected off a forward's shoulder (90). It came just after Britton's header hit the bar. Thistle got nothing out of the game, despite having the bulk of the play.

HIBS LATE SHOW STUNS THISTLE. Unlucky Partick Thistle missed out on a point as Grant Brebner scored in the last minute to take all three points for Hibs. The Jags looked to have earned a draw but they remain firmly rooted to the foot of the SPL thanks to Brebner's late header.

Partick started brightly, without really threatening the Hibs goal and, despite the home team's pressure, the visitors had the better of the early opportunities. Scott Brown had a weak shot easily held by Kenny Arthur, before Stephen Dobbie was also denied by the Jags' keeper. Eventually both sides began to step up their attacking threats and Arthur had to react smartly to smother a Garry O'Connor free kick from 20 yards after 33 minutes. At the other end, Jamie Mitchell controlled the ball on the edge of the box before unleashing a volley, which brought out a flying save from Daniel Andersson.

Thistle had a strong penalty claim two minutes into the second half, when Alen Orman appeared to hold back Derek Fleming, but referee John Rowbotham dismissed the protests. Gerry Britton then had the ball in the net after 55 minutes only for the goal to be ruled out for offside. It took the visitors until the 66th minute for Grant Brebner to go close, and from the resulting corner, Colin Murdock powered a header just over the crossbar. Both teams searched for a winner as the game wore on and Hibs substitute Derek Riordan passed up a couple of decent chances. Thistle's best chance came after 81 minutes, when a precise cross from Jean-Yves Anis fell to Gerry Britton, but the veteran striker's header cannoned back off the crossbar. Thistle's bad luck continued when Hibs struck the winner in the last minute. From an innocuous Riordan free-kick on the left, Brebner ghosted into the six-yard area and stooped to head home.
