7,025 saw a dull 1st half with the teams sizing each other up. Prem Div Dundee had 9 foreigners in their line-up. They went behind to a McLean header (51) but a fine shot from distance (53) levelled the tie. Thistle ended with 4 forwards but a fine block by Arthur near the end thwarted Dundee. Fair result.

An equaliser by Quique Torres ensured that Dundee were not - at least yet - one of the Scottish Premier League scalps of the Scottish Cup's fourth round. First Division leaders Partick had gone into the game on the crest of a wave and confident of an upset. Dundee were unpredictable in the league and struggled past First Division Falkirk after a replay in the previous round. Scott McLean gave Thistle the lead and added hope six minutes after the break. But Torres replied two minutes later to ensure another replay for Ivano Bonetti's men. Thistle had prepared for the game with a four-day break in Blackpool and manager John Lambie kept faith with the same 11 that beat Ross County last weekend. Dundee still had Gavin Rae out injured, leaving Barry Smith as the only Scotsman in the visitor's starting line-up with Juan Sara and Fabian Caballero spearheading the attack.

Kick-off was delayed by 10 minutes to allow in the large crowd. And it was Thistle who responded to the tremendous atmosphere by pinning their SPL opponents back. But it was Dundee who almost took the lead in the 13th minute when Caballero squared a great ball across the Thistle six-yard box only to find no takers. That was the closest either side came in the first half as defences remained on top and chances were difficult to create in the driving wind and rain.

The home side took the lead out of the blue after the break. On-loan Millwall striker Leon Constantine crossed from the right, Martin Hardie headed towards goal and Scott McLean redirected the ball into the net from about three yards out. But there was drama two minutes later when Dundee equalised. With no danger on the horizon, Torres hit a snap shot from 25 yards that thundered into the net giving goalkeeper Kenny Arthur no chance. The game came to life with Dundeenow in the driving seat. But neither side could prevent the tie going to a replay at Dens Park.
