Slack defending let in the Fifers (3rd bottom of Div 3) (21) but Walker scored when he was put clean through (23) then a McLean drive and a Hardie header (40 and 44) put Thistle 3-1 up just before h-t. East Fife scored (57) and almost equalised but Walker scored from the edge of the box to restore the 2-goal lead (79).

JAGS STING EAST FIFE. Partick Thistle booked themselves a home tie against Dundee or Falkirk in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup with a entertaining win at New Bayview. The Fifers took the lead through a Paul McManus strike after 21 minutes, but Thistle hit straight back through Paul Walker two minutes later. John Lambie's men turned up the pressure and it was no great surprise when Scott McLean fired in the second after 40 minutes. Martin Hardie powered in a header on the stroke of half-time after Alan Archibald's cross picked him out in the box. East Fife did grab a second when Lee Bailley capitalised on a defensive blunder in the 57th minute but Walker grabbed his second with 10 minutes remaining to finish the game.
