Walker rounded the keeper for 1-0 (37) then a pass-back rolled under the keeper's feet (50). Craigan was sent off (foul, 53) and Falkirk scored with the pen but they were reduced to 10 a few minutes later (foul on Britton who scored with the pen). Britton (a threat all afternoon) then McKinstry scored 69 and 75. Thistle went top.

Partick Thistle produced a brilliant second-half performance to destroy Falkirk and move clear at the top of Division One with a 5-1 home win. Thistle had taken the lead in a dull first half when Paul Walker finished in style after being put through by Gerry Britton, but the game came to life after the interval. Five minutes after the restart, Falkirk gave themselves an impossible task when central defender Camille Oponga's back pass was completely missed by goalkeeper Miles Hogarth with the ball rolling into the back of his net. However, the visitors pulled a goal back three minutes later when Stephen Craigan was adjudged to have brought down Kevin McAllister and was shown a red card for the challenge. Goalkeeper Kenny Arthur was cautioned for protesting before Paul Wright converted the spot-kick. Six minutes later, the home side were awarded a penalty themselves as Bairns' defender Andy Lawrie became the second dismissal of the match after a clumsy challenge. Thistle gained in confidence and made the most of some poor Falkirk defending as James McKinstry and Britton added further goals to move Thistle three points above promotion rivals Airdrie.
