Falkirk were in control for most of the match, created most of the chances and had the bulk of possession. Thistle were denied a blatant pen when Britton was felled then Falkirk took a deserved lead (73) but a 25-yard drive from Britton 10 minutes later left the keeper helpless and earned a gutsy draw.

GERRY BRITTON rescued a last-gasp point for the Jags at Brockville but it wasn't enough to keep John Lambie's men at the top of the First Division. Britton smashed home a quite breathtaking equaliser from 25 yards with six minutes to go after Kevin McAllister had looked to have claimed all three points for the Bairns with the opening goal after 73 minutes. It was just reward for Britton and Thistle as they preserved their unbeaten start to the league campaign.

It took fully 25 minutes before the first opportunity was created by either side. Falkirk striker Paul Wright's spectacular scissors kick fizzed across the face of the six-yard box and Greig Denham at full stretch just failed to connect with his head. Wright then tried his luck from fully 30 yards with a free-kick which was well held by Thistle's French keeper David Klein. Klein produced another fine stop from John Henry's half-volley less than sixty seconds later. Thistle fans howled for a penalty just before the break when Britton burst clear and went down in the box under a challenge from Denham but Underhill waved play on.

However, it was the Bairns who made the all-important breakthrough in 73 minutes. And it was evergreen 38-year-old McAllister who broke the deadlock. The veteran winger played a superb one-two with Henry in the box and “Crunchie” drilled a sweet and true finish low to Klein's bottom left-hand corner. But Britton brought Thistle back on level terms with his stunning equaliser six minutes from time. The ex-Livvy man picked up a loose ball from Denis Conngahan and unleashed a stunnning 25 yard drive swerving drive which screamed into the back of the net much to the delight of the huge travelling support in the 2633 crowd.
