Testimonial for Alan Morgan. 5 new Summer signings were on show against an XI with 9 ex-JAGs. Fleming (looking off-side, Elliot (pen), Archibald from 25 yards made it 3 but it was 3-1 by half-time. McLean then Morgan himself (pen) finished the scoring but it hardly mattered.

NEW boy Gerry Britton terrorised Partick's old boys in Alan Morgan's testimonial. The newly-signed Thistle striker teased the Jags Select at Firhill but couldn't get on the scoresheet in the 5-1 win despite seeing three shots saved. But Morgan - who retired at 26 through injury - did find the target when he came on to take a late penalty. Derek Fleming, Barry Elliot, Alan Archibald and Scott McLean also scored for the Division Two champs, while Bobby Russell netted for the crocks. Ex-England star Peter Beardsley, who had promised to play, was a no-show.
