There was no championship celebration. Shamefully, Thistle ended with 8 men when Docherty (red, deliberate hand ball, 23), Hardie (red, dissent, 62) and McNally (2 yellows, 62) were all sent off. 2 goals (23 and 55) - the 1st from a penalty - ruined the party. “Jags bash a damp squib” (GH).

RED MISSED AS JAGS WAIT FOR IT. JOHN O'NEIL'S double spoiled Partick's party - but it was ref Brian Cassidy who bounced three Jags stars out of the promotion celebrations. Thistle would have won the title if they had beaten Queens but they had no chance with eight men as they suffered their first home defeat for a year. Stephen Docherty saw red after 23 minutes for deliberately handling an O'Neil shot in the box and the midfielder rammed home the spot-kick. O'Neil stooped to nod in a low Warren Hawke cross after 55 minutes then Cassidy lost the plot seven minutes later. Mark McNally picked up a second booking - the first was for breaking early from the wall at a free-kick - for a foul on Hawke. Then Martin Hardie got a straight red for giving the referee lip about McNally's dismissal. Lambie said: “Circumstances beyond my control ruined the game but I won't be leaping to Hardie's defence if he spoke back to the ref. Discipline is all important.”
