FURIOUS LAMBIE BLASTS LAZY BUNCH OF CHEATS. IRATE Thistle boss John Lambie last night branded his players cheats and vowed to make changes after his side had scraped a point against Berwick. Lambie has already admitted he will leave his beloved Jags if he fails to lift them out of the Second Division this season. And he'll certainly be on his way unless they improve on this display. Lambie said: “That's the worst we've played this season and I'm not happy with the players' contributions. They are picking up money and not giving me a shift. They've got to learn that you have to work for any money that you get in the game. There's too many lazy players about. I'm concerned about my goalkeepers but I don't think the defenders in front of them are helping much either. I want effort and my money's worth or there will be heads knocking. Everything I say is falling on deaf ears.”

The Jags trudged off the field to a chorus of boos. And they now face their toughest task of the season a week on Saturday when they travel to Hampden to face Queen's Park. Lambie added: “The fans were quite right to boo us at the end because they want their money's worth too. They have been starved for years. At Hampden the pressure will be on Queen's Park. We'll be up for it - if not there will be players going home short in their wages. I'll just be telling them to go out and get another club and we'll see who wants them.”

Berwick grabbed a deserved 34th-minute lead when Lloyd Haddow swung in a free kick and defender Grant McNicol headed home. But Thistle snatched a point five minutes from time. Gerard Stirling's corner was met at the near post by a glancing header from substitute Martin Hardie for his second goal of the season. Berwick boss Paul Smith said: “I'm disappointed at losing the late goal but Firhill is a hard place to come to and not many teams will take a point here.”
