An incredible match. The home goalkeeper was man of the match! Thistle hit post four times (and the bar once). Stenhousemuir had 2 shots and scored (32 and 34) and were 3-up at half-time. Archibald was red-carded before the 4th (77). Shocking defending admittedly but absolutely no luck up front.

I DON'T BELIEVE IT SAYS GUTTED BOSS LAMBIE. JOHN LAMBIE was mystified as to how the Jags lost 4-0 after hitting the woodwork five times as his side bombarded the Stenhousemuir goal. Stenny keeper Garry Gow rubbed salt into Lambie's wounds by taking the man of the match award in a game not even the veteran boss will forget. Lambie said: “I can't believe it. It was just that kind of match.”

Gow superbly turned a Paul McGrillen shot round the post at full stretch in just two minutes, then the keeper blocked a Jared Stirling drive and watched from the deck as Graeme Davidson swept clear Scott McLean's back-heeler from the rebound. McLean went on to strike the woodwork four times but in a devastating burst in the first half Brian Fairley's Warriors found themselves three up. Colin McKinnon netted in Stenny's first attack from eight yards in 31 minutes as the visiting defence stood static. Former Thistle hitman Issac English scored two minutes later and Peter Cormack made it three in the 39th minute. Alan Archibald was given his marching orders from referee George Mitchell in the 66th minute after tangling with Stenny's Barry Donald and 15 minutes from time Martin McLaughlan made it 4-0.

Lambie said: “It's soul destroying. We defended dreadfully and failed to take any of our numerous chances.” Warriors boss Brian Fairley said football never failed to surprise him but added: “I still think that whoever finishes above Thistle will win the league.”
