OPPORTUNITY KNOX. STRANRAER manager Billy McLaren was angry after his team snatched a draw for an incredible 18th time this season. A late Keith Knox strike for the visitors cancelled out Russel Huggon's opener but the boss wasn't impressed by the Blues' failure to follow orders. He said: “We had a game plan but the team did not adhere to it in the first half and that cost us. If we had managed to go in at 0-0 after 45 minutes I could have altered one or two things and we may have gone on to win. But our first-half performance was erratic and we lost an avoidable goal. We dominated the second half without being convincing, and lacked the cutting edge.”

Thistle went ahead in 27 minutes with a goal from Canadian debut boy Huggon, who stooped low to meet a Danny Lennon cross and head past Blues keeper Mark McGeown. Thistle could have sealed it after 75 minutes but Derek McWilliams saw his 20- yard effort rocket off the post. Then, for the second time in five days, Stranraer's veteran defender Knox got his name on the scoresheet after exchanging passes with Ian Harty. On-loan Hibs man Huggon said: “The goal was a real boost but I am disappointed we drew. Hopefully, I can stay in the team and we can get some wins.” Jags manager John Lambie said: “It would be a miracle if we could go up but stranger things have happened.”
