Ex-JAG Shaw scored with a tap-in (10) but Lindau scored with a fierce volley from 18 yards (13). Craig scored when Paton's effort was blocked (43) but County equalised (47). Jacobs scored direct from a corner (53) and Lindau scored on the angle (90) after several chances had been missed. Exciting but little skill on view. County had a man sent off (72).

BIRTHDAY'S A CRACKER FOR JACOBS. WING ace Quinton Jacobs celebrated his 21st birthday by handing out the presents himself. The Namibian gift-wrapped a cracker for Thistle when he scored directly from a corner to put them 3-2 up and set the seal on an outstanding display at Firhill. Man of the Match Jacobs said: “I practise scoring from corners all the time but that's the first time I've actually managed to do it in a game. I was delighted to get a goal for Thistle on my birthday and I really enjoyed my partnership with Peter Lindau - we understand each other's game. My only regret is that I didn't score again but overall I'm very happy with the way I played.”

County took a 10th minute lead through former Thistle hero George Shaw but on- loan Swede Lindau levelled two minutes later with a superb lob. Albert Craig deservedly fired the home side ahead two minutes before the break but that was cancelled out by a fortunate Derek Holmes header in 47 minutes. However, after Jacobs' stunning, curled strike from the right in the 53rd minute County looked finished and they certainly were when Derek Ferguson walked 18 minutes later after picking up his second yellow card. Lindau, on loan from Ayr, completed his double in injury time with a thunderbolt into the top corner.

Thistle boss John Lambie said: “That's the best we've played all season. I was delighted with every man out there. We've only lost one of 13 games now but there's no room for complacency and I've got my eye on a player I want to complete my squad. He's currently in the Premier League and he operates in midfield, but that's all I'm prepared to say at the moment.”

Disappointed County manager Neale Cooper said: “We've certainly paid the price for criminal defending. I don't know what was wrong with them today. Derek Holmes was outstanding but no one else deserves much credit after that performance.”
