Dunn missed a 1-on-1 early on and Miller wasted chances. Albion soaked up the pressure and hit on the break and 3-0 at half-time was the result of chaotic, panic defending and poor finishing. An improvement in the second half saw some decent play, a Miller goal (68) and a penalty missed by Dunn (80). Too little, too late.

ALBION SPEED GRILLS. STRIKER Paul McGrillen reckons the fastest goal of his career could clinch him a full-time deal at Stirling Albion. McGrillen - a first-half substitute - was only on the park for 20 seconds when he fired Albion into a 2-0 lead. The hitman, who has spent the last month at Forthbank, said: “I think I have done enough to merit a contract. I have scored five in three games and although I was disappointed not to start, the goal will have helped me greatly.” Ally Graham took advantage of some poor Jags defending to give the home side the lead just before McGrillen's dramatic 38th-minute entrance. Kevin McCallion added a third with a neat finish into the bottom corner of the net in the 43rd minute. Scott Miller scored on 68 minutes to give Thistle hope, but Robert Dunn then missed a penalty for the visitors. Albion manager John Philliben said: “I am happy with the three points but it is worrying that we are not holding our game for the 90 minutes.” Beleaguered Jags boss John Lambie said: “The defending in the first half was abysmal, the worst I have seen in years. We have got to sit down at look at the situation now. A quarter of the league has gone and we're bottom - we must get the balance of the team right.”
