Dunn gave Thistle the lead (27) but when future-JAG McLean fell in the penalty box a shot skewed off him for the equaliser (29). He followed that up with a 2nd goal (34). Poor defending let in Jamieson with an equaliser (55) but Thistle were largely on the back foot and conceded a winner (85).

LAMBIE FAILS TO INSPIRE PASSION AS PARTICK CONTINUE FALL FROM GRACE. WHO'D be John Lambie? Pigeon fancying is surely a hobby for those who favour pleasant, peaceful pastimes a million miles from Caledonian Stadium yesterday. Lambie, though, seems almost suicidally inclined towards stress-inducing activities like local government politics and, yes, managing Partick Thistle. The Maryhill manager's arms flapped like a bird about to take to the skies throughout this latest torturous episode in Partick's descent into relegation hell. By full-time, he looked an exhausted shell, which was more than could be said about most of his players. There was a lot at stake here. There really was. It was just that saying it over and over didn't remove the impression that there was no great furnace of desire burning in Partick's bellies, with the exception of Robert Dunn.

An opening flurry presented two very good chances for Inverness midfielder Paul Sheerin, but unusually, he conspired to miss both. Les Fridge made a superb reflex save in 24 minutes, but two minutes later Dunn had Partick in front, to their surprise, as much as anyone else's. Against strong appeals, the striker beat the home off-side trap and put Partin Lauchlan's through ball crisply past Fridge. The Inveress retribution was swift, though, with Scott McLean levelling in 29 minutes in bizarre fashion. McLean first missed a Barry Wilson cross and ended up in a heap on the ground. Sheerin's attempt skewed and McLean, on his back, stuck a boot in the air and re-directed the ball into the net. That strike was followed by McLean's second five minutes later, after he shook off Gregg Hood and fired low into the corner. The second half saw some flickers of passion from Partick and a gifted equaliser from Willie Jamieson's head straight from a Paul McDonald corner in 55 minutes. McLean missed a dream chance for his hat-trick in 66 minutes after a head-flick across goal by Shearer, but victory came five minutes from time.. Home skipper Mark McCulloch ensured a title showdown with Livingston next Saturday with a superb run and eight-yard volley after a knock-back across goal by Bobby Mann. For Partick, the fun and games continue.
