Corner after corner, chance after chance, Thistle did everything but score. Albion took the lead (9) then went further ahead thanks to shocking defending (25). LAMBIE LONGS FOR PAST MASTERS. RELEGATION-HAUNTED John Lambie turned the clock back to the good old days after watching another jaded Jags display. And the Thistle boss insisted the Jags of a few years ago would never have capitulated the way the current team did at Forthbank. He said: “The squad when I was last manager would have buried the teams we've met in the past few weeks. They weren't world class but they never knew when they were beaten. We're losing and drawing games we should be winning through the players' own stupidity and lack of commitment.” Commitment is what Lambie demands and to stress the point he dug even deeper into the past. He added: “When I was a player, winning was the difference between beans on toast or steak for your dinner if you got a win bonus. You should be so committed that you're able to wring out your jersey after 90 minutes.”

Teenager Alan Provan made it 1-0 with his first goal for Stirling. Thistle were dead and buried after a moment of madness from Alan Archibald in the 25th minute. The defender slipped, allowing Graeme Donald through to score, then got himself sent- off after wildly protesting to referee Kevin Toner that he had been fouled. Alex Bone scored No.3 with a delightful 20-yard lob. Stirling player-manager John Philliben said: “Those three points have been a long time coming. We're playing more as a team now and that has helped us improve.”
