Connell (one of 4 players booked before half-time) was sent off (56) and the task was made even harder. Poor defending at a free-kick let Arbroath in for the winner (74)

LAMBIE'S FACING DEJA VU. JOHN LAMBIE has been involved in some nerve-jangling relegation scraps down the years - and it looks as though he's in for another. Thistle slipped deeper into trouble with this defeat at Gayfield - and to add to Lambie's problems Graham Connell was sent off. Yet there seemed little for him to worry about when the Jags opened the scoring after 26 minutes. Arbroath's defence stood still as Robert Dunn raced through to blast a shot past Craig Hinchliffe. But Arbroath took just three minutes to get on level terms thanks to a screamer from David Arbuckle which left keeper Kenny Arthur with no chance. Connell, one of four players booked in the first half, got his marching orders after 55 minutes for scything down Craig Cooper. And the home side cashed in after 71 minutes when they grabbed the winner. Jags failed to deal with Cooper's free- kick and John Crawford slammed the ball home.
