Dunn missed a pen (60) before Forfar scored 60 secs later, the defence sliced open. Johnston went close late on. It was worryingly poor and ominous.

IAN'S A HARD AXE TO FOLLOW. IAN McPHEE reckons the threat of the axe is firing his Forfar players as they fight for their Division Two lives. The manager heaped praise on his basement battlers - then stepped up the pressure by vowing to drop them in favour of his starry-eyed kids. He said: “I was delighted with the result and the commitment shown. There had been talk of changes during the week and maybe the threat of being dropped was enough to throw down the gauntlet to the players. I have one eye on next season and I have no reservations about bringing in youth to the first team.” Ben Honeyman fired them in front on eight minutes but Willie Jamieson levelled just before the break. Thistle should have gone ahead on the hour when Alan Rattray hauled down Martin Lauchlan but Robert Dunn's weak penalty was saved by Dean Robertson. Ralph Brand bagged the winner a minute later.
