Thistle had the wind at their backs and a fine run and shot by Lauchlan (30) put them ahead. The defence played well in the second half and Forfar seldom looked like equalising. A shot by Martin was cleared off the line (90). A workmanlike performance if nothing else against a poor side.

While promotion favourites Livingston will now appreciate how tough it will be to make it across the finishing line in pole position, PARTICK THISTLE must have partially silenced the cynics who had written them off. The Maryhill men proved that they are not quite ready to be counted out of the race. Martin Lauchlan was the man who earned them a win bonus - surely a four-letter word around Glasgow these days - with the game's solitary strike in the 30th minute against Forfar Athletic at Station Park. Thistle then showed some unusual professionalism by ensuring they remained tight at the back and did not concede any easy goals.
