Thistle started brightly and scored through a Morgan pen (37). Walsall had a man red-carded for serious lunge on Lauchlan who limped off (72). 3 others were booked (at least one should have been a red). They scored when a cross was touched in (92) yet Arthur hadn't had a save to make. Some friendly!

LAST-MINUTE GOAL DENIES THISTLE WIN. PARTICK Thistle were denied a first home victory at Firhill of the pre-season last night thanks to a dramatic equaliser in 92 minutes for English Second division opponents Walsall who included former Celt Andy Walker, playing as a trialist, in their line-up. The Jags started brightly, and efforts from Callaghan, Lauchlan, and Johnston all caused concern in the visitors' defence, before the opening goal arrived in 37 minutes. Matthew Gadsby was adjudged to have fouled Lauchlan inside the box, and from the resultant penalty Alan Morgan fired powerfully past the keeper.

Thistle also had the better of the second half and almost scored with Dunn and Lauchlan combining, but were unable to supply a finishing touch. The game exploded in 72 minutes when substitutes Ian Roper was sent off for a ridiculous lunge on Lauchlan which forced the impressive winger to hobble off, being replaced by McKenzie. The Walsall discipline was certainly suspect with yellow cards also being issued to Keister, Viveash, and Peron, who was lucky only to see yellow for another shocking tackle, this time on McKenzie. Dramatically, Walsall equalised in the last minute when Peron's cross was touched home by substitute Andy Watson past the helpless keeper, who hadn't had a save to make all night.
