Lyons was red-carded as tempers flared (70) and Thistle hung on but after off-side robbed Airdrie of a goal, they got one (89).

Substitute Forbes Johnston's last-second winner boosted Airdrie's promotion push. The dramatic win took the Diamonds into the First Division's top four for the first time this season. But Thistle must be ruing a moment of madness that saw Andy Lyons red-carded, leaving his team down to ten men for the last 19 minutes. He punched former teammate David Farrell as the two jousted for the ball and was sent off by ref John Underhill. And, as Lyons went off, Farrell, who left Partick just three weeks ago, got involved with Callum Milne and both were booked. Airdrie turned the screw and, in the final seconds, a series of miskicks in the Partick box allowed Johnston to lash the ball into the net. Partick started well and recent signing from Airdrie, Alan Lawrence, scored after six minutes. He stole the ball when Kenny Black failed to clear and coolly slipped it past John Martin. Paddy Connolly equalised in the 29th minute when his slightly-deflected shot floated just under the bar.
