Thistle made a whirlwind start but Falkirk went 2-up (shocking defending 26 and 43) then a Farrell OG made it 3-0 (54). A pen by Stirling (55) was immediately cancelled out (56) for 4-1. Adams headed home (73) and Morgan tapped in from close range (77). There was no lack of effort, just quality. Still bottom.

Boss John McVeigh was furious after Partick's defeat by Falkirk. He raged: “I give it my best shot and I expect the same from my players. I am not going to be cheated like that, neither are the supporters. As from now the kid gloves are off.” But there were smiles in the Falkirk camp. Paul McGrillen hit the opener after 24 minutes' and Marino Keith made it 2-0 just before half-time. In the 54th minute, a David Farrell own goal put the Bairns 3-0 ahead. Jerry Stirling scored a Partick penalty, but Marino tapped in to make it 4-1. Thistle managed to make up some of the deficit. Sub Charlie Adams scored with a brilliant header from a Stirling cross on the left. Alan Morgan then made it 4-3, but it wasn't enough.
