John McVeigh was appointed Head Coach in July. Thistle were no match for an almost full strength Villa side. Arthur (on his debut) had a fine save and Evans missed a good chance in a low-key first half. Three second half goals after Lyons and MacDonald had gone close settled it.

Aussie Mark Bosnich last night revealed he would join Celtic - but only for an AMAZING offer. The Aston Villa keeper has been linked continually with Celtic but last night - as he sampled Glasgow hospitality - he insisted: “I'm very happy playing where I am. Since I've been up here I've been asked a million times about going to Celtic. I have very good friends here and I'm under contract, which could be a problem if Celtic did show interest. In any case, it would have to be an amazing offer for me to consider going to Parkhead, but I'm not even considering a move because I haven't even heard of any interest from them.” Bosnich loved every minute of Villa's 3-0 win over Partick Thistle at Firhill on Tuesday and said: “It's really good at the club and I don't know if I could leave. But if it was a decent offer I would have to consider it because, as a footballer, you have to think about the future. You need to know you will be alright when you're finished. Next season I want to be more successful than ever. We feel that soon we can make a serious challenge for the title.”
