AET. Queens opened the scoring (53) after a goalkeeping error by Cairns. Thistle had struggled but a Stirling free-kick (54) and goals by Henderson and Maskrey (both headers) in extra time secured a shaky win. “We had too much of the ball” (MacLeod). No reason to get carried away.

Partick Thistle had to battle for a 3-1 extra time win over Queens Park in the League Challenge Cup. The Jags started well and had the bulk of the play but couldn't get the breakthrough. Despite good efforts from Steve Maskrey and new boy Gareth Evans, the match remained goalless at the break. In the second half the visitors took a shock lead through Mark Falconer, but Jered Stirling equalised almost immediately. In extra time Partick proved too strong and goals from Nicky Henderson and Maskrey put them through.
