“Watson gifts Killie their first point” (GH). Craig converted a hotly disputed pen (foul on McWilliams, 20). Shot-shy Kilmarnock never looked like scoring until Watson sliced a cross past Walker for an OG 5 minutes before half-time. Having started the better Thistle fell away and the game deteriorated with few exciting moments.

A PENALTY kick and a bizarre own-goal, both scored by Partick Thistle, earned Kilmarnock their first point of the season at Firhill last night. Thistle, having taken the lead from the penalty spot, surrendered it before the interval, and with both defences dominating ineffectual forwards, and midfields cancelling each other out, there was little likelihood of a winning goal…
