OH gives Thistle's goal as an o.g. SM/MP back this up although the PA say it was Ray Farningham. SM confirms Byrne og (59) turned in a low hard cross. We stick with that report which is the majority view.

Thistle were unable to breakdown St Johnstone who were playing a frustrating off-side trap. They went behind (41) with the defence looking hesitant but a defender turned in a low, hard cross from Farningham (59) and the OG earned a point. Johnston and Britton missed reasonable chances late on.

Ray Farningham earned a vital point for Partick as they continue their fight to escape from the relegation zone… Saints keeper Andy Rhodes pulled of a superb save in 35 minutes to deny Julian Broddle. But the Perth side really should have taken the lead when Alan Moore chipped over after bursting through. A minute later John Davies failed to hit the target when he was in the clear. However the pressure paid off for Saints four minutes from the interval when they deservedly went ahead. The architect was Moore, who pulled the ball away from on-rushing keeper Craig Nelson. Although John McClelland could not put it away, the ball ran kindly for John Davies. That was due reward for Saints’ earlier industry, and they should have gone ahead in a 60-second spell earlier when both Moore and Davies missed chances. But the story was different in the second period with Partick adding pace to their attack with the speedy Kevin Magee on the left wing. The equaliser came after 59 minutes when Farningham turned in a crowded goal area to fire in despite the desperate efforts of Saints’ defender David Byrne. After that only goalkeeper Andy Rhodes prevented Partick getting the winner.
