A powerful header by Carson put Thistle 1-up (7). Montrose held out until a Watson 20-yarder from a tapped free-kick (60) and that was followed by Law's deflected free-kick (76), a close in header by Gallagher (78) and a solo effort by West (80) who had been the best man on the park. If only they were all as easy.
