Boosted by the return of Watson (out for 10 games), Thistle took a deserved lead when Smith twisted and turned to beat 4 defenders and score from 12 yards (25) then he set up Logan to score from 18 yards (40). Ayr's pressure after half-time was considerable - but ineffective - and Herd scored (80) before Ayr (89).
