This is the continuation of the QF tie that Thistle won vs Queens Park in May 1983. The bizarre story of the Glasgow Cup in the 1970s and 1980s continues with the fact that the official 1982-83 tournament began with the aforementioned solitary QF tie in May 1983 then continued here with the Semi Finals and Final at the start of season 1983-84. There was no competition for 1983-84, strictly speaking!

Spirited resistance wasn't enough to overcome Celtic's superiority. The opener was a shot from 12 yards (10) and McNab had several good saves to keep it at 1-0 but he was beaten again (lobbed, 41). Jardine hit the post with a free-kick but with Johnstone tightly marked Celtic saw out the tie out comfortably.
