The MP credits Iain Jardine with Thistle's opener, but AEE/RSJ report that it was Willie Gibson. Gibson is widely credited with a hat-trick (OH/SP/DR/HN) so, by process of elimination, it seems most likely that he got the opener. There's further doubt over the 5th and 6th Thistle goals, with the RSJ crediting Ian McDonald with both. This goes against the narrative of both the (detailed) MP report as well as the OH who credit George Clark with both. Both players came on at the same time (55 mins) so perhaps the local paper got them mixed up for some reason. We stick with Clark per the official PTFC line.

Gibson's shot rolled under the keeper (13) and he added to it following a corner (41) before Jardine (44) put Thistle well ahead. Gibson headed his debut hat-trick from a corner (60) then Rough had his first save. O'Hara hit the post then a fine solo effort by Clark (76) and his 2nd from close in (85) made it an easy win.
