Dave MacKinnon later revealed that he felt so weak as the game progressed he had to be subbed off. He was rushed to hospital and tuberculosis in a kidney was diagnosed.

Ex-JAG McAdam had a hand in all 3 goals. He was pushed in the back to give Rangers the opener from the spot (27). 2 minutes from half-time it was 2-0. A magnificent 30-yard drive by Jardine hauled Thistle (in all white) back into it (67) but the fight-back ended with Rangers' 3rd goal (75). Doyle was stretchered off late on - both subs already used.
