This was the match where Auld refused to announce his team until Aberdeen had announced theirs. The Thistle team was never announced over the public address! OH credits Jim Melrose with Thistle's goal but GH/ET/DR/APJ/SC all say it was Ian Gibson and we go with them.

Thistle sat in and hoped for a point and it almost worked. It was nearly all Aberdeen and Rough had some fine saves. Stout defending kept it scoreless until Aberdeen took the lead (74). Gibson levelled (drive from the edge of the box, 84) but joy was shot-lived when the winner was headed past Rough (85).
