Thistle were pinned back in defence for a spell then a fine run by Gibson set up a Rae header that went close. Rough over-carried but the free-kick came to nothing. The second half saw Lawrie tap in a Gibson shot that came off the keeper but he was mysteriously given off-side. Then came United's winner (60).
