Thistle started well enough but Motherwell gradually took hold of the game and went ahead on the half-hour. Duffy took a Cowan pass and equalised with a lofted shot over the goalkeeper (58) but Motherwell hit back and Niven had some fine saves before the headed winner 10 minutes from time.
