There were lots of thrills, spills and splashes on the rain-soaked pitch. Thistle started brightly and Mallon scored (12). It could have been 3-0 but the Coventry keeper frequently saved his team. They equalised (30) and went ahead (35 and 47). Thistle got their 2nd from a headed OG (83). Good, entertaining match.

PARTICK THISTLE opened the scoring against Coventry City last night but the home side went on to win 3-2. At first Partick were yards faster than Coventry on rain-soaked turf, but on the occasions that the Coventry attack really got moving the goals came. Mallon scored for Partick after 12 minutes and had it not been for Coventry goalkeeper Spratt they would have had another two before Hill scored the equaliser in the 30th minute. McPherson put Coventry ahead five minutes later, Hill got his second goal for Coventry two minutes after the interval, and Kirk (Coventry) put through his own goal in the 83rd minute.
