Historian Bobby McNally writes: “I think the 1951 Inverness Thistle LH is Johnny Christie (if so he's playing out of position but that's a slightly odd looking ITFC lineup anyway); if so that would be quite the generational span, his son Charlie is #10 in the Inverness Select 1991 and will have faced PTFC many times with ICTFC and Charlie's son Ryan is not unknown himself these days.” HN reckons it was Willie Crawford who got Thistle's opener, but we go with Norrie McCredie per IC/AEE/EEN.

2nd of 4 “Festival Friendlies“. “Partick Thistle got a fright“ (AEE). They trailed 2-0 and McCredie missed a penalty before he reduced the lead before half-time. The other Thistle tired in the second half and their keeper had some fine saves before being beaten by Stott in the closing stages.

PARTICK THISTLE got a fright in the Festival game at Inverness yesterday evening. A young Thistle side held them to a 2-2 draw. The home players were at their best in the first half and led at the interval by 2-1. Thistle’s 17 year old right winger, Pat Wright, opened the scoring, and 18 year-old “Babs” Grant headed the second. Partick missed a penalty during this period, but McCreadie reduced the leeway. The Firhill team got into their stride in the second half, but 16 year old Smith, the Inverness goalkeeper, gave a grand display. It was only in the closing stages that he was beaten by Stott.
