Dunoon. Thistle rode their luck in this Festival of Britain friendly. Thirds were the better team but Crawford put them behind (25). 5 minutes later they missed an open goal. Their forwards were weak and a goal by McCredie (50) from a breakaway made it 2-0. Thirds scored 10 minutes from the end. “Slow and uninteresting“ (SP) except for Crawford and MacKenzie.

The first real thrill in this Dunoon festival match came along in the fifth minute when McCall almost opened Thirds' scoring. His attempt appeared bound for the net when Ledgerwood brought off a great save. Prior to that, the Thirds were the more dangerous team and forced three corners in quick succession. The only time during this stage that Petrie was called to action was when he saved a long shot from McCreadie. As the game progressed, Partick improved, and in 25 minutes opened the scoring through CRAWFORD. Third Lanark should have equalised five minutes later, but Love missed his kick in front of an empty goal. Third were having by far more of the play, but their finishing was weak. The Thistle, on the other hand, were dangerous in their few attacks, and a great run and cross by McKenzie almost got a second goal. Half time - Partick Thistle, 1; Third Lanark, 0.
