TSP (27/3/1943) writes that “Thistle improved their right wing with the inclusion of Gourlay as support to "Dundas".” The (otherwise unheard of) "Dundas" (#7) was almost certainly a psuedeonym for the purposes of wartime discretion that day for some reason. The DR (27/3/1943, predicted) has Alex Glover at #7 whilst the OH has Alex McSpadyen. There's no line-up at SP/GH/SC. We'll endeavour to check the SM at some point, but stick with McSpadyen in the meantime.

Had Thistle taken their chances in the first half when they were well on top it could have been different but they only had a Newall goal (9) to rely on. Thirds scored (46) and were all over Thistle after that and hit the post 4 times. Parker had a masterful performance but a fighting draw wasn't enough to qualify.
